Any suggestions for affordable gites, bb's or hotels (under 100 euros) in Lyon and Avignon? Thanks.

For Lyon we used La Residence - a great location and very clean and comfortable. For Avignon we liked Hotel Boquier - also a good location and very cozy!

Thanks - are they near train stations? We will be arriving and departing via train, en route to Spain. Cheers!

Yes! Both are very near train stations! Hotel Boquier is near the central train station and very near the shuttle stop to TGV railroad station. Directions to the hotel from the train station are posted on their website. The Hotel La Residence is just down the street from Gare Perrache in Lyon. They also have a great map on their website. We also traveled by train and walked to both. Enjoy France!
