Luzerne train towards Geneva need info

Leaving around 8am, we would like to travel by train from Luzern towards Geneva. Eat lunch and return to Luzern by late afternoon. Is this possible? Would Geneva, Lausanne or Montreux be a better stop? Can this be done without changing trains. Is 3 hrs. each way enough time? We purchased a Swiss Pass. Do we need seat reservations for this route?
We are an old married couple and our goal is to see the scenery & have a great lunch. Are we on the right track to meet our expectations?

It's doable, there are non-stop trains that do this route, travel time is 2 hours 50 minutes. I think just visiting Montreax and Lausanne would be more enjoyable. Reservations are not possible on regular intercity trains in Switzerland, seats are first come first serve. You can check schedules by visiting the Swiss Rail site at www.sbb.ch/en
