Luxembourg, Mosel Valley, Alsace region

My husband and I will be driving from Luxembourg to Alsace region in France. Then we saw the Rick Steves video that included the Mosel Valley and now we want to detour there before heading to Alsace! I'm thinking if we leave Luxembourg city, drive to Trier for a short stop and continue to either Cochem or Beilstein, spend 1-2 nights, then drive to Wissembourg or Obernai. After we leave Lux city, we have 9 nights before spening the last night near Brussels airport for the flight home. Does anyone know if this is a feasible itinerary?
Thanks so much for your opinions and help.

What James said, but would add a day or two in Trier - we like it very much and if driving you could do lots worse than the Hotel Petrisberg overlooking the city - amd make sure you have exhausted Luxembourg - City and Country - before you leave. And fill the tank to brimming each time you pass though Luxembourg, the fuel is way cheaper than France which is cheaper than Germany.

James and Nigel, Thanks so much for your input. We will tentatively plan on driving from Luxembourg with a full tank (thanks for that tip!) and head to Burg Eltz for lunch and a hike to the castle. Then, 2 nights Beilstein or Cochem 1 night Trier, via Bernkastel Kues. I have the info on the hotel mentioned and will like the fact that it is a bit out of the cigty.
We'll take lots of pictures, drink some good wine and maybe german beer, and next off to Alsace from Trier! I appreciate your help and easing my mind about adding Mosel to our itinerary. We're off in 3 weeks time!

On your way out of Luxembourg City, you may want to stop at the US Military Cemetary near thereit is where Patton is buried. We were there last summer on our way to Larochette Luxembourg. Interesting cemetary if you are interested in WWII military history. The Mosel Valley is beautiful. I would also recommend Burg Eltz as the other posters did. Trier is also interesting, and they are finding more Roman ruins every time someone does a renovation there.
