Is it a nice place to spend a day in? Just a day...cause we are travelling through it and don't need a visa.

I agree with Andreas... Luxembourg City is indeed a beautiful place.
When I lived in Wiesbaden, Germany in the late 1980's a friend and I used to ride our motorcycles to L-town just so we could have horse steak for lunch! (Sorry, horse lovers! :-)

We were there in May and found 1 day to be adequate. In fact, if time is tight, I'd spend just a few hours or even skip it entirely. Of the 7 counties visited during our month long trip, it is the only one I don't care whether I return to.

I also agree that it is worth spending the day in Luxembourg City. The American Cemetary is located 6 miles outside the city and worth the visit. General Patton is buried there.
There is a city bus that goes to the cemetary.
