Luxembourg for 2 weeks

Hello - I am going to Luxembourg for 2 weeks in May. What are your recommendations as far as where to go and what I must see outside of Luxembourg? I plan to travel to Germany, France, and Belgium, etc but want to know what people consider "a must" while in the area.

Verdun, Reims, Maastricht, Trier. All within a couple of hours.

Hi William,

Along with Trier, Germany, I'd like to add the Mosel in general. From Trier I'd suggest a visit to Bernkastel, Cochem and Burg Eltz.

I would also suggest Trier, Germany, Maastricht, Holland and the American Cemetary 6 miles outside of Lux City. There is a city bus that departs from near the train station. General Patton is buried there and it is very well kept.

"but want to know what people consider "a must" while in the area." Ah, but that differs for everyone...

If you like the outdoors, the nearby Ardennes region, particularly the "Haugt Fanges" (sp?) is well known for it's hiking and thermal spas. The bordering region of Germany is also particularly mountainous, sparsely populated and criss-crossed with hiking trails. In Belgium, Dinant is one of the most scenic towns in the Ardennes, although there isn't much to do there.

The must-see outside of Luxembourg is the Mosel river valley. Also, if you're a Formula 1 racing fan the famous Nürburgring is nearby. A day trip to Aachen, which was capital of an empire that comprised all of todays France, Germany, Benelux and more a 1000 years ago is also quite worthwhile. And you can also day trip to the Rhine river gorge, the www.rheingau.de and Saarbrücken. The drive along the Saar river from Luxembourg to Saarbrücken is very scenic...
