I am having problems finding out how to get to Vianden using Lux's public transportation. I know we have to take a train, then catch a bus to get there.
Can anyone help with specifics on this, train from Lux city to where?, what bus to catch to vianden? I have looked on Db's website and the official Lux railway system and no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Details are at www.mobiliteit.lu, which is available in English. One suggestion is train from Luxembourg gare Centrale leaving at 0915 to Ettelbruck at 0939. then bus 570 from Ettelbruck at 0945 to reach Vianden at 1008.
Its an interesting question and one which calls up interesting answers. I've only driven to Vianden and its Castle (yes, its pretty much straight up, as is the carpark). I was able to use www.cfl.lu which did come with routes. Exotic, round the houses, routing involving train to Trier, bus to Bitburg and either one or more additional buses from there including a shared taxi 444 which needed calling 2 hours before use. I then saw the link for bus based answers under the results and went to http://www.mobiliteit.lu/ which gave a most excellent routing of the hourly service to Diekirch (BTW- they have a spectacular Battle of the Ardennes / Battle of the Bulge museum - top notch ) (route 10 for the train, via Ettelbruck) and then the half hourly bus 570, total time 53 minutes which is much better.
Thanks so much for help!
