We had lunch at Tour Eiffel 58 on 5/12/09 and what a disappointment. We had eaten at Altitude 95, before it was renamed and transformed into Tour Eiffel 58, on 3 previous occasions and the food was good, not great, but at least it was a nice environment. The new Tour Eiffel 58 restaurant is a cross between a McDonald's and a buffet with food that is only passable. After you are seated and read the directions on how to place your order you walk to a counter, where all the appetizers are on display in plastic dishes, [INVALID] your appetizer and order your meal. The servers behind the counter are all wearing baseball caps just like McDonald's. You return to your table and your order is delivered to you in a basket . . . all of it in hard plastic containers, like at a fast food restaurant. You also get a roll in a paper bag. Total cost for 4 appetizers, 2 hamburgers, 2 plates of pasta and 2 glasses of house wine [INVALID] 118 Euros. We even complained and were told that everyone else seems to love it because "you're able to get in and out fast." We doubted that and our experience was not actually that fast. I would not recommend it!

I think lunch at 59 is mainly reserved for day tour groups, so you can guess how good (bad) the food is. Your're probably better off getting together a lovely picnic with french bread, cheese, fresh fruit, yummy pasteries for dessert and some wine if they are old enough and sit on one of the benches at the Champs de Mars.

I'm sorry to say that lunch at le tour 58 would probably be a dissapointment. My daughter and her friend were there recently and were extremely disappointed by the food, the service and the whole atmosphere, not to mention the final insult...the cost. We took her to the Jules Verne a couple of years ago and I'm sure she thought it would be a more casual, but similar experience. I agree with a previous poster...pinic! Remember those cheap, but sturdy, little blankets you get on the plane, keep it, it makes a great picnic blanket. Hit the grocery store at Ecole Militare and the boulangerie around the corner and head to the Champ de Mars. If the grass nazis aren't out enforcing the "keep off grass" signs, you'll enjoy the perfect picnic. If not, they usually don't hassle you if you set up on the edge of the grass. Mid October is perfect weather...Have fun!!!

I'll take your word for it - picnic it will be!! sounds horrible - have gone several times in the past when it was Altitude 94 - and it was good, not great food but it was a neat experience for my students - sounds like they've really ruined it :( thanks for the info!
