Luggages in the train

Hi, last year when we took Eurostar from London to Belgium,We left our luggages at the rack located almost besides the stairs where you get on and off the train. There were 4 of us and we had the 21 inches roll on luggages. We were worried and would rather have it inside the train with us but it was ok.This time,we are taking Eurostar to Paris and then TGV to basel then trains to wengen. Am I too paranoid about our luggages? Any advice? Thanks.

Thanks it's a good idea. I am not familiar with a wire lock but will check at ' REI'.

You are a bit paranoid,, but not too much.. LOL ON the Eurostar I never worry about luggage,, there is no stopping between London or Paris so no one can easily grab your bag and jump off train so really no worries there. I always have camera, money etc in my carry on bag( my big purse) with me,, and so if someone stole my suitcase it would p8ss me off but not make or break my trip,, remember , its mostly dirty laundry anyways.. LOL
On eurostar you can pick your seat online, pick a seat near the luggage racks.

As suggested you could just use a bike chain lock up if you are concered about someone grabbing your bag off train. I don't think you need worry too much about it though.

PS Wengen is so cute,,,,, you will love it, Definately take cable car up and do some hiking. There is an easy hike ( about 1 1.5 hrs) that anyone can including children can enjoy.

On the Eurostar you can usually fit the 21" bags in the overhead racks. Try to get on the train early so there is still room left for your luggage. There are luggage racks inside the coaches, and some luggage will fit on the floor between seats. I don't usually use the overhead racks because I'm not tall enough or strong enough to heave it up there.

Check out the PacSafe Retractasafe 100 (29" cable) or 250 (35" cable). You'll find them at www.pacsafe.com. I think REI sells them, too.

Actually called cable locks. Wide variety available from thin to heavy. I use a retractable cable about 36" long and retracts into a holder about the size of a deck of cards. It is thin and a heavy pair of wire cutters would do it in but the primarily purpose is to prevent grab and run. If I cannot find something to attach to then I just hook all of the bags together and kind of hide the cable lock. If someone grabs one bag, suddenly they find that they have two other bags.
