We will be visitiong the Mosel Valley in Sept. and want to see Burg Eltz. Since we are only staying 1 night in Cochem, we will need to store our luggage in order to see the castle. Has anyone found a place to do that recently?

Thanks Tom and Karen. We don't want to miss the castle, and both of you had information that was helpful. We will look into your suggestions.

Just arrived back from Germany and went to Burg Eltz...must see... If you are going by train expect a 60-90 minute walk from the train station. If you can get a ride.(cab)to the beginning of the wooded walking path that is what I suggest. I think most drive from the other side of the mountain and walk about 15-20 minutes to the castle. I was surprised that we were the only 4 to get off at the train station. We were lucky and had a local give us a ride to the beginning of the wooded walking path, but very sleepy train stop...no one in sight. Regarding luggage there is no place to store anything like that....You defiantly want to make arrangements for your luggage and don't take with you. Good luck
The link below is for a small hotel/restaurant in Moselkern where you might be able to store your luggage. The link is to their contact information page, which you can use to contact them and see what arrangements might be made. Good luck, it's really the pits to have to skip such a major site for an inability to store luggage.
Cochem's station has lockers; you can drop bags on your way to Eltz and return to Cochem for them provided you have some extra time. It's a very scenic ride, after all.
Thanks Russ
That is a good option and I'll remind my hubby what you said about backtracking. :)
