luggage storage at munich hbf during oktoberfest

We've been to Munich several times but never during Oktoberfest so we're considering a day trip this September. We plan to arrive early in the morning, spend the day, and then leave late afternoon for another destination. Does anyone know if the luggage lockers at the main train station are full during this time and/or is there some other form of luggage storage available at the hbf during Oktoberfest? Thanks.

As I recall they have a lot of lockers (though it's been maybe ten years since I went through the Hauptbahnhof there). I was there during Oktoberfest, and the station was really crowded. I only had a daypack, and didn't check to see if the lockers were all full.

Hi Mick, In answer to your question YES! Get there early! We got there late morning and had circle around I want to say a good 45min waiting for someone to leave. It never occured to us that the lockers would be full and the train station so crowded. Chalk it up to lesson learned! Good luck! And have fun. Wendy

The Munich Hbf also has a left luggage room near the lockers. It's used mostly for oversized luggage (skis) that won't fit in a locker and for extended storage time. However, I arrived in the morning at MUC several years ago on the last Thursday of Oktoberfest on my way to Oberammergau. The train left from the Hbf so I took the S-Bahn to there, arriving a little before noon. I had no problem finding an empty locker in which to store my bag while I walked to Theresienwiese to see the Oktoberfest grounds.

Thanks to all. We're hoping to stay at Regensburg the night before and catch an early train to arrive at Munich by 8:15 or 9:15 so, hopefully, we'll be OK.
