Luggage lockers in Avila?

Are there any luggage lockers available in Avila?

We have planned a half-day in Avila on the way from Madrid to Salamanca. We were hoping to leave our luggage at the train station. But I see from Rick's Spain update that this may not be possible: "For security reasons, the government has ordered the Spanish train system (RENFE) to shut down luggage lockers at all its train stations." Another possibility is the bus station, but we will be there on Sunday and the bus station is closed on Sunday.

Does anyone have knowledge about the current luggage locker situation in Avila and whether it will be possible to find a place to leave bags on a Sunday?

This will not be much help. A few years ago we spent a half day at Avila on the way to Segovia via bus. We used a manned left luggage at the bus station but it closed early (5 or 6 pm) as I remember. As I remember the town is pretty sleepy.

Sounds like your only recourse is to find a nearby hotel and ask if you can check your luggage there. If you tell them you are desperate for any place to leave it, they may oblige you or recommend another place.
