Luggage Lockers at Munich Airport??

I've never used a luggage locker before. Are they secure? I'd like to leave my larger suitcase in a locker for 4 days while I'm visiting Munich (planning to use a small overnight or carryon for this). What are the fees typically and should I be worried that my suitcase may not be there when I return to the airport to go on to my final destination?

Munich is a very safe city and I would imagine that any luggage locker in the Munich Airport would be equally safe. Depending on the size and weight, it will cost you 6.50 - 8.00 Euros a day, a little more the first day. You'll need to look for the "Gepäckaufbewahrung" (luggage storage). Here's the German price list: Sperrgepäck bis 30 kg Maße bis max. 90 x 60 x 30 cmbis 3 Stunden 4,50 EUR / Stück bis 24 Stunden 8,00 EUR / Stück pro weitere 24 Stunden 6,50 EUR / Stück - Sperrgepäck bis 40 kg Maße bis max. 90 x 60 x 30 cmbis 3 Stunden 7,00 EUR / Stück bis 24 Stunden 10,00 EUR / Stück
pro weitere 24 Stunden 8,00 EUR / Stück Source: http://www.munich-airport.de/de/consumer/aufenthalt_trans/servicecenter/gepaeck/index.jsp

It says "service nonstop". Is that German for "24-7"?
At those prices, I'd lug the suitcase to the hotel and treat myself to a nice meal.

The prices apply all days of the week. For example, the first 24 hrs it's 8 Euro for each piece (in that weight category). For an additional 24 hrs in the same category, it's 6.50 Euro per piece (pro Stück). Still better than the Gepäck Center in Berlin Hbf. (their version of the Gepäckaufbewahrung) where no distinction in weight or size is made. every piece no matter how small/large/heavy costs the same, which pay when you retrieve the luggage.

But can anyone confirm that it is indeed 24 hours service? I got two replies from two different individual from the airport: one said they open at 6am (at T1) and 5am (T2) and another said that one open at 6am (T2) and "always open" at T1...who to trust? Here are the replies: 1) Dear Mr xxx, we are located in the central area in terminal 1 level 03. There is also a service center in terminal 2 arrival area level 03. At the moment our opening times In terminal 1 are daily from 6:00 oclock until 23:00 in the evening. In terminal 2 from 5:00 oclock until midnight. Best Regards Tobias Hasslauer 2) Dear Mr. XXX, we are located in both Terminals. You will find the Service Center Terminal 1 at the Munich Airport Center, Level 03 and the Service Center Terminal 2 is located near the arrival floor on Level 03. Our opening times are from 5:00am to 0:00pm in Terminal 2, in Terminal 1 we have always open. @ Alan...are you asking that despite the two different closing times (23:00 or midnight) you may want to retrieve your luggage after midnight? This is only a suggestion: I would move the luggage from Munich airport to the main train station, Munich Hbf. (if what you're seeking is not satisfactory) and where the large coin lockers cost 5 Euro for 72 hrs. The smaller lockers are 3 Euro for 72 hrs. You can retrieve the luggage at any time. The vendors open at 05:00. I know this because I've been at the station at that time. I'm not familiar with Munich airport but do know the Hbf.

Fred, Thanks for your suggestion, I think I might do that and I used the locker at the central station two years ago at Munich so I am familiar to that (price is the same as two years ago too =). I am confuse that one reply from the airport said they open at 5 or 6am but another one said 6am and 24 hours, just want to know can anyone confirm that for me.

@ Alan...I was in Munich in 2011. Although the S-Bahn is convenient to take you from the Hbf. to the airport, there is also the "Lufthansa Airport Bus" (in regards to luggage) which boards on the opposite side of the Hbf. ie., on Arnuftstrasse, not Bayerstrasse. The bus stop for the Bus is front of the taxi stand (Taxistelle). If you should be caught without sufficient change for the lockers at Hbf., (it happens to all of us), be advised that no change machine is around. But, go to the WC facility, Rail and Fresh downstairs, where at the entrance is a change automat...problem solved.
