Luggage Issue

I'll be flying into Barcelona and traveling around for 11 days until I end up in Madrid to stay for 5 weeks. I'll have a whirlwind itinerary for those 11 days and don't want to be burdened with my big suitcase with 5 weeks worth of stuff. I'll be staying with a family in Madrid but won't know exactly where until I get there so I can't ship my things over before I go. Any suggestions for how to handle this? I know the less I carry the happier I will be so please help me maximize the happiness! Thanks in advance!

If you can play with your itinerary, I'd make a stop in Madrid. If nothing else, you can leave your things in left luggage at the airport before flying on to Barcelona. When I was shopping flights from DC, most of the flights stop in Madrid on the way. Give yourself time to make your connection and make sure your luggage is tagged for Madrid. Even with five weeks, you should consider packing light. I'd suggest your carry-on with a couple of bottoms, several tops, underwear, sweater, rain shell and an extra pair of shoes to get you through your eleven days. A medium checked bag with another few tops and a couple of bottoms plus maybe a third pair of shoes and something dressy is really all you need.

Brad gives good advice in the above post....Pack LIGHT!! You will not need all that you will carry, and some will come back with you unused....
