Can you get to the luge ride in Bad Duerrnberg near Hallein via public transportation? I'm not sure the SOM tour is worth it...or is it? I don't really care about the SOM sites even though I enjoyed the movie.

I thought the SOM form Bob's Special Tours was a hoot. The luge was a lot of fun. If you mention that you read about it in Rick's book you get a bit of a discount. The tour is in a van with 7 or 8 people and a guide. You can get to some the tour locations on your own, but I don't know about the luge site. I found the luge's web site. http://www.duerrnberg.at/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=78&Itemid=77 and I don't think that it looks promising. But, there is a thread on Tripadvisor that gets at this issue.
