We are taking our 7 and 11 year olds to Austria/Germany/Czech Rep this May and my son really wants to do the luge ride. Is there one close to Salzburg on the way from Vienna (we have a car). Or is there one in Innsbruck or Mittenwald on the way to Munich?
There are 2 luges near Lermoos on the road from Reutte to Innsbruck. There are also 2 luges east of Salzburg on the road to Hallstatt. All of these are described in Rick's book Germany & Austria.
Hi Deanna,
There is also a luge ride just as you enter Garmisch from Mittenwald. There's a sign (Sommerrodelbahn) on the left hand side of the road as you get to Garmisch.
Don't look for "luge" signs as they are called Sommerrodelbahn.
Paul
Thank you. Actually the Garmisch one might be better as it will cut up our longest day of driving for the kids!
Your kids (and you!) will love the luge. Ours did when we took them. If you plan on doing the "Sound of Music" day trip from Salzburg, the luge is included as part of the trip.
which luge would be the closest or easiest to do from Hamburg via public transport ?
If you take Bob's sound of music tour, they will take you there as part of the trip.
