My husabnd and I are going to London for 8 nights. Then we fly to Zurich and are going by train to Lucerne for 6 nights. We will be taking the William Tell and the Bernina Express train trips to/from Lugano. We are using Lugano as a staging area to see The Lakes (for 4 nights). Is 4 nights in Lugano too many nights to see Lake Como and Lake Magiorre? We then leave Lugano for Zurich (for 5 nights). Then we take the train to Paris for 7 nights. We fly home from Paris. We are using frequent flier miles for this trip next(end of) May through June. Does anybody think we are spending too much time in Lugano or Zurich? Thank you frequent travelers.
Have you considered spending less time in Lucerne? You didn't really ask about that one, so maybe you have friends/family or a well planned itineary - but we spent two nights in Lucerne before moving on and that was about right. It was beautiful, we strolled, we saw the really neat Picasso museum (photos of him), the Lion, the bridges, and for sure had some wonderful chocolate....but I don't know that I would spend six nights there. I can't comment on Zurich or Lugano because I have been to neither.
I agree with Harry. There are so many other scenic points of interest. You are planning too many nights for Zurich and for Lugano. There is not that much to see in either town. Choose some other towns in the Oberland.
Elaine: It will help us, in advising you, if you tell us more about where else you've been in Europe on previous trips, or is this a first trip? In other words, have you already seen some of the other places being mentioned, or not?
