Lugano or Kandersteg or Thun for great swiss Alpin experience?

Need help.. I know I posted a similar thread earlier, but wanted to clarify with a new one. I am going to be in Switzerland for 3 days before heading down to Cinque Terre via Milan (3 hours) .. for some time in Italy. First day I am spending in Lucerene, day 2 in Wengen / Latturbern area... and end of day I'm wondering where to stay the night and spend my next morning before catching the train to Milan. Looks like we are going to go to either Thun (which has direct train to Milan - 2.5 hours) , Lugano (shortest train ride - 1 hour) , or Brig/Kandersteg as Brig is 2 hours) We like hiking, boating, beautiful outdoor scenery , charming small towns etc..(not ultra toursity area, chain restaunts or big cities) can't figure out which of these 3 would be best given desire for a fun day and leave me an easy trek to Milan. Thanks, Dan

You might add Locarno to the list as well. Or for a smaller town, try Ascona, reached by boat (there is a bus connection to the ferry from Locarno). Or try one of the small lakeside towns near Lugano, such as Gandria or Morcote.
