Anyone recommend a hotel for 1 night. Family of 4. We're driving from Florence to Reutte area with a stop along the way. We figure the lugano area (flexible) will be a good 1/2 way point. Thanks - again, everyone has been so helpful for us in our planning/booking of everything.

the swiss tourist board has a great website - www.myswitzerland.com and shows accommodations with pictures prices etc by area. I found it very helpful, and can be used to compare with any other places in ricks or other guides!

Wew stayed at the Hotel Walter. Right on the waterfront in the old town. You can walk along the lake front, up into the squares and alleyways of teh town. Along teh road from teh casino and an old church with a fabntastic fresco (sorry, don't rmember teh name) in the other direction. Hotel was clean, all rooms have a lake view and a fairly extensive continental breakfast. By European standards, the room was qute large. This was probably THE hotel in Lugano between the wars. We were tavelling by train so I am not sure about parking.
