Lugano

What do you recommend to do in Lugano? We will be spending 3 nts in October and using trains or buses. Any interesting places to visit outside of Lugano as a day trip? Thought of going into Milan and maybe the Lakes.

There is a funicular up to the top of the mountain, where you can have lunch at a restaurant with stunning views of the city and lake. Plenty of paths/trails up there.
