Lucerne to Lake Brienz?

Can you please help how to get to Lake Brienz from Lucerne? We heared the lake is really beautiful! Should we travel to Interlaken first? Is this doable in few hours? Any thoughts please?

Thanks so much!

After a little searching I found that there are boat tours on Lake Brienz that depart near the Interlaken Ost train station. You can see details for at least one boat company by clicking here but I am sure there are more tour boat companies out there. Remember too that a rail pass (especially the Swiss pass) may get you on a lake boat here for no additional charge.

So, yes, you can travel to Interlaken, but it depends what you want to do when you say that you want to see Lake Brienz. Interlaken is on one end of the lake, and the town of Brienz is at the other and is closer to Lucerne, so you can easily go to either one.

According to the Deutsche Bahn schedules, it looks like it is two hours from Lucerne to Interlaken Ost by train, and one hour forty minutes from Lucerne to Brienz.

The only thing I would ask is if you have considered heading out to Lauterbrunnen? If so it may give you a reason to spend a bit more time around Interlaken than just a day trip.
