I have looked around but found very few options for Hostels and Budget'esque' hotels. I searched around the site but had some trouble getting information. DOes anyone have any suggestions for Lodging for 1-2 nights in Lucerne. We'd prefer a hostel to keep the costs low (we're students)

... If I wanted a bargain hotel, I would look for a room in a village like Vitznau. From the front of the Lucerne RR station, cross the street to find the commuter steamers. There's regular steamer service between Lucerne and Vitznau. The fares are inexpensive.

I don't know about hostels in Luzern, but the Jailhotel is pretty reasonable---122 CHF for a twin "unplugged" room.

My family is staying at the Lucerne Backpackers hostel in a few weeks - www.backpackerslucerne.ch/
It looks clean & comfortable and, while it is a 15min walk to the town center, has a lakefront location. I'll let you know how it goes, but it looked like our best option! Good Luck

We stayed at Lucerne Backpackers and loved it. It was about a 10 minute walk from the station and in a lovely location. The staff was very friendly and the hostel was incredibly clean. Highly recommended!
