Can someone please suggest me good and affordable place to stay in Lucern? Hotels look expensive. I am going to be there for 2 days

When you arrive in town, go to the tourist information office (blue sign with little "i")and they will find you something in your desired price range.

Tourist information office is where you want to go. Always close to the train station too. Which means within walking distance. Just tell them what star rating you're looking for and they'll assist you.

look for lucerne hotels on www.tripadvisor.com and see what other people have said about their stays. This website usually gives an average rate per night alongside the hotel...just for a ballpark figure.
You might also consider staying in on of the lakeside villages and take the short and very enjoyable boatride into lucerne...covered by Swiss Pass.
We VERY much enjoyed the little village of Weggis and the SeeHotel Gotthard. There are many nice hotels dotted in the villages and they are all well connected by boat or some other means of Swiss Transportation.
