Experience buying 1 day tickets at Louvre (Fri night):
I want to go to the Louvre at 6-10 pm - (reduced ticket and nightime view), but I do not want to be stuck in a line outside the pyramid ---
Rivoli entrance will prob not work as it is not a Musee Pass -
and not sure whether I can buy reduced fare before 6pm or at other outlets
(will Virgin sell me day of tickets?)
and going thru the Mall under the Louvre will still result in my waiting to buy my ticket at a counter?
Any ideas?
Possible to buy ticket at machine w/o a French bank card?

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but we went to the Louvre Friday, July 31 (2009), and there really wasn't any line outside the pyramid. I think we arrived about 6:30 PM. The museum did seem less crowded than when we were there during the day summer 2007, but I'm not sure if that is the evening or just a down tourist year. This year we found no lines at Paris museums. We walked right into the l'orangerie and the Cluny as well. Added thought: museums could have been less crowded Friday and Saturday that weekend because Sunday was a free day (first Sunday in August).
