Here's a tip on avoiding lineups at the Louvre. First, buy a Paris museum pass if you're planning to visit at least two other sites it covers (www.parismuseumpass.com/en/home.php)...it'll pay for itself. Second, arrive at the Louvre via metro....you'l avoid the long security lineups that come in through the "pyramid" outside. Third, if you don't have a pass and just want to buy tickets, arrive by metro as well. As you walk thru the underground mall, you'll see a small tobacco store off to the right, just before you enter the Louvre's gian "reception" area. They sell daily tickets to the Louvre for no extra cost. Purchase them there, and avoid the lineups at the ticket windows.
