Lots of luggage in Lucerne

I am planning a trip with Girl Scouts to Switzerland. We will be in the Alps above Thun and traveling to Zurich for the night before going to the airport the next morning. I am thinking of a stop in Lucerne on the way, but only remember a limited number of lockers for luggage storage. There will be 24 girls each with a 22 - 24 inch suitcase and a carry-on. Any ideas?

Luckily it is an easy trip - land in Zurich, train/bus to Adelboden for 7 or so days at Our Chalet (International Girl Scout/Guide Center), train back to Zurich. I am hoping to convince them to take a 20 or 22 inch suitcase and the rule is no appliances/cords other than camera battery chargers. 4 of the 24 will be adults.
So there is a left luggage location? I don't remember it.

Since you have ruled out the train station, contact a nearby hotel and talk to the concierrge (sp). He or she should be able to set up some arrangement to stash those bags (way too many-have you thought about pairs of girls sharing one suitcase?) for about $100.00 or so.

The girls I have traveled with before will have small suitcases - they have learned, just like we have. Last trip (to Mexico) I constantly said 20 or 22 inch and parents bought 24 and 26 inch suitcases for them. It is the "first-timers" I have trouble with. The girls are from a very large geographic region and don't necesarily know each other, but I will suggest the share idea:) Do you know of a hotel near the train station? I have not ruled out the left luggage counter at the train station- just the lockers.

Deb,, I suggest you get firmer and make it a rule,, no suitcases bigger then 22 inches. Period.

MOst people either do have the smaller one, or could borrow one from someone. Obviously we are not talking about paupers here, girl scout trip or not,, these families have enough money to go and get an 80 dollar suitcase.

I think the idea of talking to a nearby hotel and asking to store luggage is a good idea. You will have to offer a payment,, heck, you could in fact RENT one small hotel room and stash all luggage in it for the day. You are paying for an overnight visit, but using it as a dayroom.. it will be convenient in a way,, somewhere to wash hands etc after day touring before travelling on.

Cost wise it may be not that much more then trying to rent 26 lockers..

There is a left luggage office a the Lucerne (Luzern) rail station.

It's open M-F from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM and Sa/Su from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

Here's where I got that information:
