I am staying in Paris for five days and will be there for New Years. I have rented a flat, as I have diet restrictions and find it helpful to cook at least some of my meals (only need minimums like stove top burner and mini fridge really). I am a single female and I do not speak French- New Years in the Champs Elysees is what I heard was good-open to food, location within this area, other activities, just not Moulan Rouge for $800+. From Paris I really wanted to continue the Christmassy/Holiday feel-I figured Switzerland with snow, fireplaces and accomodates like Chateau Whistler in Canada, sitting in a larger lodge people watching in front of a fire, outdoor hot tubs, spas and venturing outside when I wanted to do a day trip or winter activity(not much interest in skiing). From what I can tell Switzerland boasts more "modern" accomodations, no real woodburning fireplaces and smaller chalets. I am open to other destnations within the area( Germany, Austria, italy etc) I just am wanting to continue the "wintery, holiday, resort" sort of theme if I can. Ideally if I could find an accomodations that was an apartment or flat with a cook stove and fridge for five nts, I envision staying here, eating out some and visiting a resort for the fireplaces if need be... I'd like a location that is a good base where I can take day trips from-maybe this is just a US and Canadian sort of desire?
