Looking for cool Spanish town between Tossa deMar and Andorra

We will be driving from Tossa de Mar (having already ventured north, up the coast) to Andorra for the Tour de France. Does anyone have a suggestion for a neat place to stay for a few days in between these locations?

Jenny, If you've been driving around this part of the world, you know that distances are shorter than in Colorado. You might be willing to move around a bit and see more than just one place.

That said, Besalú is quite interesting -- a well preserved medieval town -- a "living museum" if you will.

A restaurant in Llívia (home to Spain's first pharmacy) serves some of the best meat I've ever had here. Ask for L'Embut, on a tiny side street just off the main drag.

I love L'Escala, and would highly recommend it to anybody interested in history, wine, the sea or the mountains. I have a friend who has an apartment for rent on the bay of Roses, so that's also an option.

Gerona itself is probably worth a night's stay.

Frankly, there is a bunch of pretty territory between Tossa and Andorra. You really can't go all that wrong. Also, if worse comes to worst, Barcelona is only three hours from Andorra, and you could hang out here for a day or two.

Whatever you do, enjoy your trip!
