Looking for Amsterdam apartment or hotel with kitchenette

I am looking for a canal-side 1-bedroom apartment, studio or hotel room with kitchenette for an October stay in Amsterdam. We'd like a quiet, very nice accommodation with a canal view, if possible. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

There are many agencies out there that post "classifieds" for those who want to rent their apartments, etc. Many on this site swear by vrbo.com. I, along with others, have also had success with homelidays.com. You deal with the owners directly on both sites.
