Looking for a good price on our flight to Spain (likely Malaga)

We will be travelling to Benalmedena in mid-June 2012. Any tips/suggestions as to our best route of travel here? We live in Ontario Canada, near Toronto, so we can easily fly from there. We can also drive to the US and fly from Detroit or Buffalo. We are hoping to get a good price on a flight and that may involve travelling to another city in Europe and then using the train or another flight. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

I cannot help much with flights from Canada to Europe but Malaga is a big airport and a hub for most of the budget airlines - you can check sites like www.whichbudget.com. Most of the non budget airlines fly there as well of course. I believe Malaga is also the second busiest airport in Spain, after Palma Mallorca. It is also the closest to Benalmadena - as you probably know. I have no idea whether you can fly directly from Canada to Spain but a check on expedia or similar should answer that. This is very much a guess but maybe going via the UK may work. Be aware though that most of the budget airlines do not fly into or out of Heathrow, whereas most of the transatlantic flights do. Hopefully others may be able help more.

Hi Lori, Delta has a non-stop connection from JFK to AGP (Malaga) and is easily connected to from Toronto. I checked under www.klm.com and found prices around CAD 1360 Toronto-Malaga in June 2012. Using the "return from / to a different destination" function on the klm website you can tip in another return airport in Europe when going back to Canada. Travelling in Europe can be in-expensive, either by train or low-cost airlines. Vueling, a Spanish low-cost carrier among many services Malaga. What is a then good price? I dont know, but I do know, that finding bargains in June, July and August seems more harder these days. My advice: Dont compromise too much on the fare, if the price for this savings is driving hours to/from airports at both ends. Just plan well for a seamless relaxing holiday. Malaga is an international airport, but not really so international for transatlantic flights unlike Paris or Madrid. happy travel!
