I've rented apartments in Paris multiple times for trips of 2 weeks or less but am now looking for longer term (3 month) rental for Fall 2012. Looking for 1 bedroom, 30+ square meters, and (hopefully) less than $2000/month including tax/utilities/etc. I have info re: all the better-known rental places, but would like to know of specific vendors you've actually used/places you've actually stayed that might meet my needs. Thanks!
are you a student going abroad? if so check with the school they can help you out..if not look online for local agents that will help
For such scenario, I'd recommend: - rent a cheap hotel/flat for 3 days - arrive, and look in loco (much easier before committing to a 3-month rent).
Do you have needs other than size and price? You do realize you are on the limit for the Schengen visa. It is not 3 months, it is 90 days.
You might take a look at VRBO.com/273521. We're going to be staying there in May. Reviews are good, and the link to the Boston Globe article is very enticing!
We have used homelidays.com in France, Spain and Scotland and the rooms were fine. Read the fine print though. What is listed and what you see is what you get. Do not assume! When renting for months, they will give you a discount. Email and dicker.
The idea above about renting an apt for 3 or so days and then going to look at your rental is a good idea. Nothing like showing up with all your goodies and the apt. is unacceptable. Where do you go? I had that happen through VRBO, and luckily, something seemed a bit . . .. hummm, so I booked Etap on Rue Dr. Babinski. You can cancel that day before maybe 5 and it is no charge. After that, it is only a one day charge if you cancel even if you have rented the room for3 or 5 days.
Excellent idea to get a short-term rental while you look for the longer one.
As for vendors, we've used lodgis.com several times over the past ten year. For longer-term, we found one on sabbaticalhomes.com but we were already in Paris and looked in person.
