Long weekend in Switzerland

Hi all, My husband and one daughter(21) will be meeting in Zurich for 3 days this weekend. Initial plan is for Lucerne but now I'm afraid that it won't hold their interest for very long. What are top sites in Zurich/Lucerne - she would love to see snow/ski. Help!

When in Lucern, you can take a one hour train ride from the main train station to Engelberg. This train ride, alone, is exciting in that the train makes a change into a cogwheel train. Upon arrival in the town of Engelberg, you can take the Mt. Titlis Rotair cable car (the world's first rotating cable car) up to the top of Mt. Titlis. Check out this website for some exciting things you can do on this glacier. There is also skiing in the area.

Lucerne is a very picturesque city. You really just walk around. Lucerne is a great spot to settle in for a few days, in order to go up to Mount Pilatus (recommend it), to Rigi (recommend it), or the Jungfrau, over to Bern, etc. We have been there twice. The last time we were there in 2010. Unfortunately the people smoke so much there, it made my husband and I sick. They smoked even indoors, holding their kids in their laps. It was disgusting. The train stations in Lucerne, Zurich and Berne all smelled terribly of smoke, no matter where you were. It was overwhelming. We stayed right by the train station in Lucerne at a Radisson. The room was nice and it was non-smoking. Unfortunately people smoked in the lobby. Therefore we could smell the smoke permeating into the eating area. It is worth seeing, but beware of the smoke.
