London Pub and Eye

We are spending an overnight in London on our way to Paris in January, staying at the Paddington Hilton. Has anyone had a meal at either of these two pubs located nearby: Sawyer's Arms or Dickens? After getting a meal we want to ride on the London Eye (the Wheel), around 7pm. Are advance tickets a good idea, or should we wait and see how the weather is? Thanks, in advance, for your replies. Love this RS forum!

We aren't worried about the weather, Nigel. We are from New England and are coming in our winter gear!

But, yes, you are right. We should wait to see if the view will be worthwhile!

We haven't been to either of those pubs, but you can find many reviews of pubs at fancyapint.com.......You might get more answers if you posted your question in the "to the north" section.

Full disclaimer - its been a couple of months since I have wandered around Southbank near Waterloo and the Eye but I would be astonished if there any significant queue 3 hours after sunset on a freezing evening in London. Me, I'd wait to see if there would be anything to see through any casual fog, rain, sleet, snow.

Haven't imbibed or eaten in either BUT have done both at The Pride of Paddington. Good homemade beef and ale pie.
Place is across Pared about a block away from the Hilton. Would wait to see what the weather is to ride the Eye. Have a wonderful sojourn. Cheers.
