London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Train, Itinerary Suggestions

My wife and I will have a week between arriving in London and catching a Rhine river boat cruise in Amsterdam in mid-October, concluding in Basel, Switzerland, five days later. We will eventually make it back to London and can do sight-seeing before departing there in November. We want to visit Brussels as well as Amsterdam prior to the boat ride and plan to spend a few days in the Basel area following and welcome itinerary suggestions as well as train connections.

From London to Brussels, simply take the Eurostar train from St Pancras Station in London to Brussels Midi station. Journey time 1 hour 51 minutes. As soon as you now your travel dates purchase tickets at www.eurostar.com. The sooner you book the cheaper it will be. From Brussels to Amsterdam take the regular intercity trains. Journey time 2 hours 45 minutes no advance reservations required. A few days is a long time to spend in Basel;) Instead I would head to Interlaken and explore the Berner Oberland region Alps, two hours by train from Basel. Check schedules at the Swiss Rail site: rail.ch
