I am taking my husband to London and this is his first time. It is both our first time in Nice. We have 2 weeks on both places. We plan to visit Wales bec of family heritage.I would alot 1-2 days in Wales.
We have a place to stay in Nice. We plan to rent a car in Nice and do the coastline (Marseille, Cannes, Monte Carlo).
Question:
Can we push our car ride further and visit hill towns of Italy like Montepulciano, Pienza, Siena and Florence or am I pushing it? If yes, Which do you suggest? We have one week or even more if we lessen our days in London and Wales.
Suggestions as to car versus train to use when we get to Nice?
Thanks,
Susan
I'd say it's pushing it to go as far as Florence. It is a 7-10 hour journey by train, so I can imagine it would be several hours by car as well. Maybe take a couple nights in a Tuscan hill town and explore the area that way! Trains along the Cote d'Azur are very convenient and cheap. It was 5-10 euros each for our tickets from Monte Carlo back to Nice, and about the same for the coach tickets to get there in the first place. It was almost three years ago now so my memory could be wrong!
