It's more than a four hour drive each way, even if you don't stop for gas.

Not at all feasible. You are asking a question i would have asked last year at this time when first planning our trip. We did a similar trip in May 2011. We spent one night in Amboise and could have stayed forever. We visited several chateaux during our two days there and then drove to Brittany --Malo - one night, Mont St.Michel - 1 night, then Bayeux - one night -- and took a private tour of Normandy the following afternoon before heading to Paris. These towns and France are just too beautiful and quaint to rush. Have a wonderful trip!

We just spent 2 days in Amboise and 2 days in Dinan. Dinan is a really neat town and it is close to St, Malo and Mont St. Michele, By the way don.t try St. Malo on a week end, it is a major ferry terminal for the UK and it is very crowded with week end travelers.

Not just not feasible from a drive-time perspective, but you will probably not want to range out of the Loire Valley while you are there. It's gorgeous! And there is more than enough to do. Depending on length of stay, you could take a couple of days and go to St. Malo, MSM, etc. - stay over night - but as a day trip, I think NO.
