Loire Valley in January

I am taking a solo-mini career break to Europe in January and February, and yes I know it's not necessarily the optimum time of year to visit, but the timing works for me. I plan on traveling to the Netherlands and France, before going on to Italy, and finally Egypt. I've been to Paris twice before, so the city is brand new to me. I plan on spending approximately 5-7 days in Paris itself, but I want to take a day trip on day to the Loire Valley. I missed it on each of my prior trips, and I'm determined to get there this time. Unfortunately, while my research tells me that many of the Chauteaux are open when I plan to visit, I can't find any kind of bus tour from Tours, Amboise, or Chinon that are running small group tours in January. I only want to visit 3-4 of the most notable Chauteaux, but it seems to be very difficult to get around if you aren't renting a car, and renting a car for one person just doesn't make sense. Bus and train service seems rather limited at that time of year. Does anyone have any suggestions, on as to how to manage this?
