We're going to be in Paris the first week in May 2014. Would like to hire a guide with vehicle for a one day trip to the Loire Valley. Can anyone recommend a guide?

no.. sounds pretty pricey so not many here travel that way. .I suggest you could take train from Paris to Tours ( about an hour and a bit.. maybe 1.5) and then just take a private tour .. Acco Dispo does some from Tours and they will pick you up at train station. I ideally the Loire Valley deserves and overnight.. you could take train to Tours, rent a car and tour on your own..

Go to www.tours-tourisme.fr and you'll see all the different tour companies that take tours all over the valley. Pickup and dropoff is at the Tours tourist office every morning between 9-10. If you take the early train from Paris you'll get to Tours in time for a tour.
There are some companies out of Paris that do small group mini van tours too. Private guides are going to be much more expensive. Never used one in France so can't recommend.
