I am looking for a gite or cottage in the Loire. Ideally near Blois or Ambois. We are a family of five (kids ages 19, 16, 13) and would like a pool. And it would be great to be in walking distance of a village/town where we can pick up snacks, a light meal, food for the cottage. I have one place in mind: Le Moulin du Port, but would like to check out other options before making my decision. Any suggestions on gites or good web-sites for searching? Many Thanks.

The late and much lamented "Robespierre", who was well known to denizens of Frommer's Europe board, once suggested this place: www.chateaudelanoue.com. He had stayed there and loved it and I printed off the information for future reference. It is near Tours and very reasonably priced, I think.

You might check out France Homestyle. I've had good experience with them although not in the Loire Valley.
