I haven't left off the e. I want to know about the Loir Valley which is north of the Loire Valley. Vendome is a village there. I am considering going there and hiking. Has any one done this and what do you recommend?

I've spent a night in Vendome and loved it. We stayed in the Madeleine Hotel which had enormous rooms above a square. The river is broken into a number of channels with beautiful gardens and hanging flowers. It's very quiet, though, not attracting much tourism. It's not far from many sites in the Loire. The only hiking we did, though, was up to the ruins of the castle above the town.
