Lodging Recommendations in Burgundy

My wife and I are headed back to France next year in September and will be exploring the Burgundy region the first week of our four week vacation. This is a new region of France for us and we are excited to explore more of the country we have fallen in love with. We have already done some research with the focus being the area around Beaune and Dijon. We are looking for a self-catering accommodation (gite or apartment) with a pool that is within walking distance (10-15 minutes) of a village or town with some basic services available (boulangerie, market and restaurants) and relatively close to Beaune or Dijon (10-15km). We will have a car so transportation is not an issue. If you have any suggestions that are even close to our "perfect" scenario we would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance! Steve

Try the official web site
http://en.gites-de-france.com/ I've also had good luck with Homeaway.com. Use Google Maps to look for villages and then search for Gite. You'll be surprised sometime to see what pops up. But your best bet will be to use the maps along with the gites de france or homeaway.com type of sites. Use Google street view as well to see how easy that stroll into town might actually be. Have fun!

I've been looking for the same thing and have found many options at vrbo.com and homeaway.com. Please let us know what you come up with.

I would suggest finding a gite in Meursault - the town of 1600 has two bakeries and four restaurants, a small grocery store, ATMs and a post office. It is 10 minutes by car to Beaune. Try the Gites de France website: www.gites-de-france.com You are headed for my favorite area in the world!

Hey, Joni
That sounds like the perfect combo. That's going on my list!
