My family and I will be flying home to the US from Frankfurt in July. Several days prior to our flight we will be staying in Bacharach. Our flight is in the am, but not terribly early. Should we stay in Bacharach the evening before, or do you have recommendations of a reasonably-priced hotel near the Frankfurt airport? Thank you!

The train to the Frankfurt airport from Bacharach is only 1 and a half hrs.They leave at 5:40AM with one train chanage.NO need to stay anywhere else.

A few years ago I stayed in Boppard the night before a mid-day flight out of FRA, and it was not a problem getting to the airport from there. Bacharach should work fine. If you go by regional train to Mainz and from there by regional train or S-Bahn to the airport, the fare is €9,70 per person.
You can get schedules from German Rail at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en, but they won't show fares. If you want fares, go to the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund website, www.rmv.de.
