We will be traveling to the Loire valley this fall to visit our daughter studying in Angers. Can you recommend lodging in a chateau or hotel in that general area?
Just returned from 3 weeks in Europe & the Best place we stayed was Chateau des Ormeaux near Amboise.
I found it on tripadvisor & it was excellent.
we stayed for one night in a cave! The hotel was built onto the side of a hill, and several rooms were actually carved out of the hill. They have several rooms in a real building, too, if that doesn't exactly thrill you. It was called Logislore, address 66 quai de la Loire, 37230 St-Etienne-de-Chigny, tel. 02 47 55 70 41, fax 02 47 55 53 71. We stayed there several years ago, but I think dinner was included, perhaps optional. I don't know the cost, I'm afraid, because I was there on a school trip. The rooms were nice, and it was in a nice, quiet area. Quite the adventure, and it's fun to say you stayed in a cave! Not sure how close it is to Angers, though...
We enjoyed the Roseraie in Chenonceaux. The website is www.charmingroseraie.com.
