Where is the best place--town and hotel--for an overnight stop along the Romantic Road? We'll be traveling the first or second week in April 2013. We prefer small scale lodging 10-20 rooms and our budget is € 75-95. We'll diverge off the RR to Nürnberg for a visit then back on, so Nürnberg can be included in our lodging query.

Jon, in 2007, I traveled from Wieskirche to Würzburg along the Romantic Road, stopping for the night in Landsberg, Nördlingen, Furchtwangen, Weikersheim (Laudenbach), and Würzburg. I've also stayed in Ansbach and Fürth (near Nürnberg). I'm sure places I've stayed in meet you criteria. My first choice would be in Nördlingen, but I don't know how that fits with your schedule. Rothenburg. After the day tourists go on, it it a very nice place. Do the Night Watchman's tour. Town website lists all the accommodations, many in your price range.
