Lodging in Stuttgart

My daughter and I will be traveling to Germany in a month and need to make Stuttgart our base for a few days coming and going. Any recommendations for lodging would be appreciated!

We're staying at the Ibis Marienplatz because it was the cheapest hotel downtown that was available. BUT, if you don't need to be in the downtown, there were really cheap deals on the outskirts. If you go to hotel.de, you'll be able to find a bunch...

Judy, what I can tell you is that the closer you stay to the Mühringen suburb the more Americans (military) you'll find. The SI Center area seems to be fully in charge with the American forces. Absolutely nothing wrong about that. The entertainment mall in SI Center is fun for Germans and Americans alike.

Sorry, typo... Möhringen is the correct spelling.

Thanks for your suggestions...
...I am hoping to find a B&B if possible. I should have been more specific. Any ideas?

There are some nicer B&B type of places in the suburb of Leinfelden-Echterdingen. There is good public transport connection to downtown via U5 (if I'm not mistaken) underground train.

We fly in and out of Stuttgart lots. We are retired military. We love the Ibis. It is clean and has A/C. It can be very hot at that time and many b/B don't have A/C. We usually stay in military housing, but have a hotel near the airport. The Ibis is part of the Accor chain. We have used them all over Europe and love them.
