My family will be traveling, by car, to Bavaria this October and we are looking for lodging recommendations in or near Innsbruck, Austria. Can any of you help?
Hi Kelly, Gasthof Badl in Hall in Tirol. We stayed here in '01, '03, '05 and '10 www.badl.at
During 2008-10 we stayed several times in hotels in the Brenner area. They were Hotels Stoltz and Park in Matri and the Steinach in Steinach. We loved them all and would recommend any of them. They are all family run and you can get lots of info/tips about the area from the family members on duty. All 3 have very good restaurants. There are some differences. The Park and Steinach are both next door to their towns railroad station for convenience. The Park and Stoltz are both fairly new with all the modern amentities while the Steinach is older and has more character. It is right next to the river and a small waterfall which we found wonderful for background noise when sleeping. The Steinach is also the only one in town close to banks and grocery. The others are just a short walk from Matri's center. Last I checked all three have active websites. We love the area for its convenience, both rail and autoban, as well as beautiful scenry and friendly people. You can't go wrong with any of them.
Thank you both for your replies I will look into these hotels.
Hall is just down the road from Innsbruck and much prettier IMO, also much smaller.
Can also recommend the Badl in Hall in Tirol. Lovely town, nice hotel. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1354778309011574650yrtFZO

We prefer to stay in Seefeld im Tirol, up the cliff above Innsbruck with easy parking, clean and clear air, easy trains and lovely people. We stay at the Eden Hotel

Hi Kelly, The Gasthof Badl is closed in October? We stayed twice in Mittenwald at the Pension Schwalbennestl. This is about 45 min. from Innsbruck though. www.schwalbennestl.de Paul
