Mayday! Every hotel I've found in Bern and Fribourg have no availability for our needed days in June. Does anyone know why all hotels are booked solid? Any suggestions? We are open to BandBs, inns, etc. Thank you!!

Switzerland hosts the European Soccer Cup in June so that might explain some of the difficulties with finding accommodation.
Do you have a car available or do you rely on public transit? We decided to stay in an appartment in a small village in Emmental at about equal distance from Bern and Luzern - about 45 minutes. Very quiet, absolutely non-touristy (the two hotels in the village took turns closing down for 2 weeks in July each!) and very affordable. Goldener Schlussel (golden keys) was great this past summer - right in the old town a few bldgs in from the big plaza with the KornHaus/Keller. Also the famous clock tower is one block up so very close to the action!
