Lodging in Lyon during Fetes des Illumieres

Does anyone have a suggestion on a $$ or so place to stay during the Fetes? A gites type place would be good, but I'm not really finding anything like that available only hotels, which would be fine too.

We stayed at the Hotel des Celestins (two stars, formerly the Hotel le Colbert) in Lyon twice. It's close to the Tourist office and just across the Saone river from the old part of town.

Ask for a room overlooking the street; rooms overlooking the tiny/airless interior courtyard were claustrophic. http://www.hotelcelestins.com. Their home page mentions Rick Steves.

Skip the 8 Euro breakfast at the hotel. Walk to the river and stop in at a patisserie, then watch the world go by (market days are best).

My husband and I love Lyon. It's like Paris without the crowds and hype. You MUST have dinner at Les Retrouvailles (also listed in Rick's book, I think). Pierre and Odile are amazing.
