Lodging in Luzern

Pleaserecommend a place to stay in Luzern. I need a centrally located hotel, because my mother is not a very strong walker nowadays. Hotel Goldener Stern (from Rick's book) does not have rooms for our dates there. Thanks to all.

Hi Natasha,

Twice have we taken rooms at Chateau/ Hotel Gütsch. You can see this hotel from central Luzern just up there on Gütsch Hill. There's a romantic, complimentary tram from the street up to the hotel making it all very easy. Their cost-included-in-the-room-rate buffet breakfast is simply wonderful.
Right on the River Reuß is the Hotel Waage (also known as Balances Hotel) and is a bit more centrally located than the Gütsch.
Have a wonderful trip ! Keep on traveling ! P.

Perry,
thank you for the advice. I looked up Chateau Guetsch, it is indeed beautiful, but the price!!!! It is entirely out of my reach. I sent an email to Hotel Goldener Stern just in case, and even though their online calendar showed no availability on our dates, they replied to me positively. So I am booking with them, but will take your advice and go up the hill to the Guetsch for the view/tea/meal. Looks beautiful.

Natasha, I staye at the Cheateau Gutch many, many years ago. When we went back I wanted to splurge and spend one night there. Way out of my reach. No way. Hope you get to go up and see it. It is beautiful. My mother paid for one night there long ago and then sent me to a cheap place. Her room was on a free tour she won!

I just found where we stayed. It was the Hotel Flora. It is a Best Western. It was very convenient to train and boats. We walked there with luggage late at night. I don't remember who we used to book it, but it was under $100.
