Lodging in Jaen

Anyone have a good suggestion. There are very few reviews on tripadvisor for the area. The plan right now is to spend the night in Jaen after seeing some combination of Linares, Ubeda and/or Baeza. Then get up early and head into Granada. An option is to press into Granada and just spend an extra night there. Opinions?

Hotel Infanta Cristina (maybe Cristina Infanta). Based on one night a couple of years ago. Okay, not in the heart, but a good price. Unless you really have a thing for Jaen other than loading up with olive oil, I keep on trucking.

Jaen is well worthy of a stop. Just above the town is the fabulous Jaén Parador a castle/fortress with great views or for a hotel in the town try the Hotel Xauen for a great central hotel. Casa Rural El Reguelo is a great base as a self catering house. Loads to see around don´t miss the Arab Baths, museums, cathedral and wonderful old churches in Jaen plus tapas are still free. Happy to help more. Rache

Of the places you mention we have only been to Ubeda where we spent several nights a year or so ago in the parador. It is a nice small town. We have been told by many people (Spanish and non Spanish) that Jaen is extremely boring and uninteresting so to date have not gone there. Depending on how much time you have in Granada I think your idea of spending another night there is good. Granada is wonderful - we live an hour away - and so much to see and do.

Thanks Liz, A lot depends on how much time we spend stopped along the way. Another night in Granada would be wonderful, but I don't want to skip things we want to see or push too hard to just to make it there.
