Any favorites for Granada? I'm fairly easy to please, as long as it's clean it doesn't have to be fancy (don't need a concierge, elevator, or restaurant). I'd like to keep it under $100 per night for a double, if possible (Granada seems to be one of the more expensive places in Spain). Also, opinions on staying in Albaicin? I think most have recommended it as the best area to stay. I'm willing to pay a little extra to stay in a good walkable area.
We are staying at Hotel Sidorme, just outside of town. A single is 40 euros, so I'm guessing it would fit your budget for a double. www.hotelsidorme.com
I find Granada (and Andalucia apart from Seville) one of the cheaper places for a great deal including accommodation. I consistently recommend for value and situation - http://www.hostalrodri.com/?lang=en I have only ever stayed in a couple of apartments in the Albaicin. I found myself in the city proper more often than in the area and I remember it was a little tiring occasionally climbing back up to one apartment.
granada is not very big, so you can walk to most of everything in the old town area. if you're flexible there are a lot of family run places you can get a clean room with shared bath/shower for low rate. you can use trip advisor to research.
Brad I had great luck with Pension Zurita. It's right in the heart of old Granada behind the cathedral. It's on a lovely park and close to good places to eat. There is no breakfast provided though. I got a double for under 80 euro. The Albaicin is super quaint and higher up on the hill facing the Alhambra and very expensive now. It's all the rage now. You get to pay for that.

Last May we stayed at Hotel Molinos - it's walking distance to the Alhambra if you're ok with going uphill. It was very inexpensive and had a garage available if needed. The room was nothing special though.
We stayed at the Hotel Palacio de Santa Ines. Rooms start at 65E. Great character and good location. Supposedly, this is where the Native Americans stayed who Columbus brought back to Spain to meet Ferdinand and Isabella. Who knows if that's true, but the building has wonderful Moorish style and our room had a peekaboo view of the Alhambra. Definite recommend.
Thanks for the thanks, a generally rare response.
Thanks for all your responses. I'll check out your suggestions. Brad
When I was looking I did note many reasonably priced places in town, but generally expensive hotels in Albaicin. It's good to know downtown is a reasonable choice.
